Outdoor LED Digital Billboard Technology Types

Traditionally, LED displays are cooled using air conditioning which are used to reduce display’s risk of implementing over-temperature protection which decreases brightness, maintain higher LED and other component lifetimes and also to protect electronics from dirt and moisture which cause corrosion.

Daktronics DVX displays surpass performance of previous displays for all of the above without using air conditioning except in the most extreme conditions, such as the Sahara Desert or the Middle-East. The modules are able to achieve this by using a whisper-quiet fan mounted to the area generating the most heat. The fan moves heat away from the module, significantly reducing its operating temperature. The more efficient ventilation provided by module fans provide a host of benefits over air conditioning a display.

For display locations that require no air-conditioning and low power consumption, customers can have a choice between two, groundbreaking LED billboard technologies - Optimized and Matrix.
